Middle School (Grades 7 – 8)

The growth and development process that starts in Elementary continues as students enter Montessori Academy of Chambersburg’s Middle School, which offers a stimulating and rigorous curriculum with unique learning opportunities beyond the classroom. Expectations for Middle School students are high, but careful attention is given to the specific needs of developing 11-14 year old students, allowing for the significant intellectual, social, and emotional changes that occur at this age. The academic program nurtures students to become independent thinkers, resourceful problem-solvers, and lifelong learners.
Montessori Academy of Chambersburg emphasizes the humanities in its curriculum, a combined study of literature, history, social science, and the arts. Required courses include: humanities, math, science, foreign language, art, and physical education.
Class discussions, laboratory experiments, interdisciplinary research and experiential opportunities form the basis for learning in the Middle School. Students experiment with their own multi-media and power point presentations. Students also continue their education of a foreign language as well as formal art instruction to round out their curriculum.
